FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: high-voltage instrument current transformer has core connected to high voltage which is encircled with high-voltage winding provided with split metal screen placed uniaxially and low-voltage winding enclosing it uniaxially too. It also shielding electrode which is at ground potential and encircles high- and low-voltage windings. Electrode should be so manufactured as to avoid induction of high potentials due to high-frequency transition processes with commutation to secondary side. Draining electrode 22 insulated from metal screen 20 is installed at small distance A with maximum of 5.0 mm from metal screen 20 to achieve it. Draining electrode 22 is connected with shielding electrode 18 with the aid of one or several connecting low-inductance wires 27. Low-voltage winding 17 is provided with one more split metal screen 25 which is also electrically connected to shielding electrode 18 with low-inductance wires.
