FIELD: mining. SUBSTANCE: method to develop thick steep and inclined coal stratums provides for excavation of dropped coal in advanced face at ground of stratum (layer) by clearing aggregate, coal-cutting and coal release, using underroof members, to advanced workings with following roof collapse (exhausted space filling up) onto placed on ground behind advanced face connected with the aggregate separating partition between coal mass and collapsed rocks (insert). To increase effectiveness of the measure separating partition covers near face space with height exceeding thickness of advanced face, with one edge resting on underroof member and another one on clearing aggregate. Movement of separating partition down the pitch is exercised in series: first at ground after aggregate setting, then near roof after removal of underroof member coal; and separating partition and advanced face are moved down the pitch in stratum with face shifting from ground along thickness of stratum.
