POWERED ROOF SUPPORT FOR STEEP PITCHED BEDS Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC E21D23/00 

FIELD: mining.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to coal mining, particularly to powered roof support of mined workings at excavation of coal from low coal and medium steep pitched beds. The roof support consists of a base column and of linear sections each of these consisting of a hydraulic leg with a roof beam, of a sole and of a hydraulic jack of transfer. The base column is divided into sections, each of these consists of a front and goaf walls with hydraulic thrust legs and a roof beam of the section, and of tails connecting the front and goaf walls along the surface of the bed. The hydraulic leg of the linear section passes through the center of the rigid flat frame with roller supports on hydraulic shock absorbers assembled to travel inside the tails of the base section for fixation of the linear section in a strictly normal to the bed position at unloading and transfer. Correcting hydraulic jacks are arranged at the foundation of each base section; these jacks are designed to be thrust into the below located loaded base section to initiate alternate, starting from the top one, advance of this section along the bed pitch. The sole is connected with the frame on roller supports with hydraulic shock absorbers and can be lifted over surface, when a section of the roof support is transferred, thus eliminating its burying into soft rock; the sole is lowered at loading of the roof support for unloading roller supports and for transferring load to the sole.

EFFECT: upgraded stability and fitting roof support into steep pitched bed, also facilitates recovery of sections position normal to bed, and compensation of roof support sliding by means of section advance along bed pitch.
