FIELD: conducting strength tests. SUBSTANCE: impact load is applied to one end of specimen 3 of material under test whose center portion is mounted on support 9; impact load is applied with the aid of weight 2; weight 4 is fitted on other end of specimen. Support 9 is mounted on platform 10 and may move together with it along specimen. Falling weight consists of two parts connected detachably; one part acts on end of specimen and other part 13 acts simultaneously on drive member 11 (rack) of gear mechanism used for moving the platform. Weights 2 and 4 are linked with vertical guides 5 and 6 by means of single-acting retainers 7 and 8. Retainer 7 ensures down motion of weight 2 only and retainer 8 ensures only up motion of weight 4. Motion of support along specimen makes it possible to conduct test for impact bending at varying ratio of specimen bending arms. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 1 dwg
