FIELD: electron-beam welding. SUBSTANCE: device has screen mounted on electron-beam gun with radiation guide member. Welding is carried out in low vacuum. The screen is made in the form of two truncated cones rigidly connected with their lesser bases. The electron beam is protected from evaporating welded material in the cavity of a cone located more close to the welded article creating rotating clot of plasma with a passage for electron beam to pass. Standing wave of the evaporating welded material steam is formed around the electron beam in the cavity of the other cone. Parameters of the standing wave and rotating clot of plasma are adjusted depending on welded material properties. EFFECT: improved protection of vacuum chamber and equipment. 3 cl, 1 dwg, 5 tbl
