FIELD: electrical engineering; plasma heat-to-electricity conversion. SUBSTANCE: unit has shell-mounted case with anode and cathode, beam conductor placed inside case and made in the form of conical nozzle. Angle at top of truncated cone of beam conductor is chosen between 18 and 36 deg. Beam conductor communicates through holes provided in chamber with screen which is built up of two truncated cones joined together through their smaller bases. Placed under screen in shell is header for plasma-forming material. Collector is placed in screen cone space facing the header. Case and shell spaces are evacuated before unit is placed in operation. Beam conductor is installed in case for adjustable displacement. Chamber holes are arranged in same plane and differ in size; total area of chamber holes is not smaller than area of mating bore of screen cone bases. EFFECT: improved conditions for swirling plasma flow which increases unit capacity and operating time. 3 cl, 1 dwg
