METHOD FOR SEPARATION OF SYNTHETIC RUBBER FROM LATEX Russian patent published in 1995 - IPC

FIELD: chemical and petrochemical industries. SUBSTANCE: method for separation of synthetic rubber from latex includes recovery of polymer particles from component waste water by partial filtration through in-line self-cleaning filter with subsequent continuous return of enriched flow of serum water to flow coagulation stage, and enriched flow of wash-squeezing-out to stage of rubber washing. Waste water is enriched under turbulent conditions by maintaining the required velocity of passage of waste water through gap confined by filtering partition and filter body. Recovery of polymer particles from serum and wash-squeezing-out water is carried out separately. Process of its partial filtration is effected is through porous partition at turbulence degree of concentrated flows in gap confined by filtering partition and filter body equalling 30000-180000 Reynolds units. In so doing, concentrate of wash water may be continuously returned to stage of rubber washing. The offered method is applicable in separation of oil-extended rubber. The method also includes the known stages of separation:coagulation of rubber latex in the presence of coagulating additives, sulfuric acid (or without sulfuric acid), washing of rubber crumb from acid residue, coagulating additives of alkali water, squeezing, rubber drying, collection of serum, wash and squeezing-out water, recovery of polymer crumb and withdrawal of excessive collected water for biological purification.
