FIELD: heat carriers, working fluids for hydraulic systems, damping fluids, low-temperature oil bases. SUBSTANCE: magnesium is reacted with a mixture of ethyl chloride, tetraethoxysilane and dimethyl dichlorosilane in toluene at 50-100 C. The resulting mixture of ethyl substituted silanes is then hydrolyzed, toluene is removed, the hydrolysis products are catalytically regrouped and distilled into fractions. The wear spot diameter (50 C, 50 H, 2 hr) is 0.32-0.38 mm. EFFECT: more efficient preparation process. 4 tbl
