FIELD: electric arc furnces. SUBSTANCE: lining for DC arc furnace has conducting refractory brick- work and ring-shaped electric conductor which form anode opposite to cathode arranged in center of furnace. Brickwork consists of several layer: layer of conducting wear-resistant refractory bricks which is in contact with the melt, layer of graphite bricks which is in direct contact with ring-shaped conductor and is laid over layer of insulating refractory bricks covering the furnace bottom; layer of insulating refractory bricks similar to those covering the bottom is laid over layer of graphite bricks located at furnace wall. Layer of graphite bricks is located in ring-shaped pattern only in zone of furnace wall; layer of conducting refractory bricks directed radially inside furnace adjoins the layer of graphite bricks; layer of monolithic sealing mass laid over layer of insulating bricks is in contact with above-mentioned layer in furnace central zone.
