FIELD: DC electric are furnaces. SUBSTANCE: DC electric are furnace has at least one aligned electrode to produce electric arc, serving as cathode, and an electrode located in the furnace bottom, serving as anode, connected to the power lines. The furnace bottom, at least its largest part, has a lining consisting of non-conducting tamping mass, which accommodates current-conducting metal parts in the form of metal plates, pins and bars. The upper ends of metal components have an electric contact with melt. The furnace has a great number of electrode segments located vertically on field lines, made in the form of a bottom plate in the zone of direct contact with it and in the aggregate making up an electrode ring. Each electrode segment has a great number of segment conductors with small cross-section areas passing upwards through the mentioned tamping mass, which are electrically connected metal parts secured in radial direction. EFFECT: facilitated procedure. 3 cl, 1 dwg
