FIELD: testing technique. SUBSTANCE: check of thermal stress is effected through analysis of ratio of air and fuel in cylinder. Use is made of empirical dependence of engine exhaust gas temperature and thermal stress parameters. On basis of heat engineering tests of particular types of diesel engines, stable empirical dependences are obtained which provide for continuous check of effective horse-power and consumption of fuel at any mode of operation of engine. Device is provided with reliable exhaust gas temperature sensors for each cylinder, supercharging air pressure sensors and engine rotational speed sensors. Signals from sensors are furnished to processor for processing. Results are brought out to display. EFFECT: enhanced reliability, selection of optimal modes of operation and reduced consumption of fuel. 1 dwg
