FIELD: nuclear engineering. SUBSTANCE: extraction of cesium from nitrate solutions is accomplished on ferrocyanide sorbent based on potassium-copper ferrocyanide (II); prior to sorption, 0.01 to 0.1 mole/l of soluble hydrazine salt is additionally introduced into the starting solution. After sorption sorbent is washed with 0.1 to 3.0 mole/l of solution of nitric acid, and cesium is desorbed with 6 to 10 mole/l of solution of nitric acid. Sorbent recovery is accomplished by a solution of the following composition, mole/l: sodium or potassium nitrite 0.06 to 0.5, soluble potassium salt 0.1 to 1.0 mole/l at pH=5 to 9. Method provides for extraction of up to 99% of nitrate solution and production of cesium salt with a purity of 95 to 97% with a yield of 90 to 93% EFFECT: facilitated procedure. 6 cl
