FIELD: manufacture of building materials; metallurgy and chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: lining is made of refractory bricks of different height which form extended heat exchange surface. Placed at joints of bricks of different height are metal plates projecting above surface of low bricks by height equal to 0.5-1.5 of difference of brick heights. When bricks of different height are located in such way that form longitudinal or helical passages, metal plates are located along surface of high bricks limiting the passages. When helical passages are formed, metal plates are additionally placed over surface of high bricks perpendicular to longitudinal axis of furnace. Metal plates may be additionally placed between high bricks; their height is equal to that of bricks. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 5 cl, 5 dwg, 1 tbl
