FIELD: testing technology. SUBSTANCE: article is placed in vacuum chamber which is brought in communication with leak detector; then leak detector is evacuated through vacuum chamber till working pressure has been obtained in it and vacuum chamber is disconnected from leak detector. Test gas flow equal to maximum permissible level of untightness of article is admitted to vacuum chamber; reading of leak detector is recorded; than vacuum chamber is brought in communication with leak detector and magnitude of maximum increment in leak detector reading is measured. Then vacuum chamber is disconcerted from leak detector, article is filled with test gas and leak detector readings are recorded. Readings of leak detector are decreased by magnitude exceeding the magnitude of fluctuation of pointer of measuring instrument of leak detector for the period of disconnection of vacuum chamber and leak detector. Then vacuum chamber is brought in communication with leak detector and magnitude of maximum increment in leak detector reading is measured; untightness of article exceeding maximum permissible limit is judged by difference of increments measured. EFFECT: extended range of leaks revealed towards minor leaks. 1 dwg
