FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: method involves illuminating particle flow with light beam and recording particle images which are used to estimate particle sizes. After its passing the flow, the light beam is redirected and brought through the flow once more. The redirected light beam is united with the initial one in some area of the flow to record particle images in the redirected beam also. The particle sizes are estimated based on the images in two planes being in perpendicular relation to each other. Distances between the images of each particle are determined and only those images are selected for estimating sizes, which distances are less than some predefined one being equal to depth of focus of the images mentioned above. EFFECT: provided additional data to estimate form and spatial position of particles. 2 cl, 3 dwg
