FIELD: manufacture of articles from flexible graphite. SUBSTANCE: method for production of frothed graphite includes mixing of graphite in solid phase with crystallohydrate of zinc or magnesium nitrate in the amount of 20-80%. Mixture is heat treated at 300-800 C for 0.1-15 min. Bulk density of frothed graphite is 0.02-0.256 g/cm; frothing factor is 4-88 cu.cm/g,pH of aqueous extract is 7-11.5 and does not corrode steel St-3 for one year. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 4 tbl
