FIELD: nondestructive testing. SUBSTANCE: invention provides for increased authenticity of diagnosis thanks to detection of anticipated breakdown sections of pipe-line (zones of plastic deformation, cracking of material of pipe-walls etc). Method consists is movement of diagnostic system over pipe-line under action of flowing fluid, in registration of acoustic emission from leakage, in formation of wave of local stresses of walls of pipe-line within area of diagnostic system as it moves, in additional recording of acoustic emission signals emerging in this case.
