FIELD: civil engineering. SUBSTANCE: method includes determination of actual resistance to heat transfer of the wall of an existing building. Then the value is compared to the predetermined resistance to heat transfer of the same wall, and additional warming layer is installed according to difference between the resistances. A material chosen on the base of its freezing capacity as a part of the wall on the bound between surface of warming layer and surface of the existing wall determined by the functional dependence as a function of temperature under warmer layer, indoor air temperature, mean temperature of the coldest month, as well as total resistance to heat transfer of the wall taking into account additional warming layer and existing wall determined as a function of dew point temperature for steam in room air, temperature under warmer layer, indoor air temperature, mean temperature of the coldest month, as well as total resistance to heat transfer of the wall taking into account additional warming layer, actual resistance to heat transfer between indoor air to wall internal surface.
