FIELD: processes for manufacturing materials for treatment of liquid contaminations such as petroleum and petroleum products. SUBSTANCE: process comprises applying active compound onto porous and/or fibrous substrate mode of organic material. The units of molecules of said material contain one or more reactive functional groups. The active compound includes higher carboxylic acids R1-COOH, higher alcohols R2-OH, higher alkyl halides R3, higher α-olefins R4-CH=CH2 and/or mixtures thereof wherein R1 is C10-C25-alkyl; R9 is C8-C20- alkyl or polyhalogen alkyl; R3 and R4 are C8-C20-alkyl under conditions that allow for chemical bonding of said radicals with the units of molecules of the adsorbent substrate material. Chemical bonding of R1, R2 and R3 is effected of 95-120 C on the presence of organic solvent capable of forming azeotropic misture with water. Chemical bonding of R3 is also effected in the presence of alkali. Chemical bonding of R4 is effected in the presence of toluene sulfonic acid. The absorbent contains ether groupings -OOCR1 or OR wherein R1 is C10-C25- alkyl, R is C8-C20-alkyl or polyhalogen alkyl. EFFECT: more efficient preparation process. 5 cl
