FIELD: powder metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method of making products of powder materials comprises steps of preparation of exothermic mixtures of powders, compacting the mixture to briquette, placing it in a heat insulation porous envelope and then - in a die; initiating a burning reaction and relaizing a hot pressing of combustion, products together with the envelope in such a way, that pressing of the combustion products is being performed with higher axial deformation rate than pressing of the envelope. Apparatus for performing the method includes a punch and a closed die, filled by loose heat insulating material and having a base, a body and a ring, placed between the base and the body and supporting an ingnition device. A rigid support in the form of a prism is mounted on a bottom of the base, its cross section has a form and dimensions of cross section of ready article. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of the method with use of the simplified-structure apparatus. 3 cl, 1 dwg
