FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method of thermal treatment of steel parts consists in anode polarization of parts in salt melt for the course of 1.5-3.0 h with current having density from 0.1 up to 25.0 A/sq.dm with the use of auxiliary electrode. Factor of hardening of surface layer 80-120 μ thick amounts to 1.27-2.42. Hardening is achieved thanks to diffusion on alloying elements from volume of part.
