An electric circuit is used to switch the cylinder for operation as a compressor or engine. The fuel injection stops with a plunger pair or rotatable gate. To increases the time period during which solenoid drive 6 actuates control valve 1, a capacitor is connected in parallel to the coil. The capacitor controls the temperature of control valve 1. Delivery valve 4 of the device is provided with heat relay 12. To obtain compressed air, the suction and compression strokes are used when the cylinder operates as a compressor.
