FIELD: testing. SUBSTANCE: method is meant for investigation of ultimate strength of material for destruction under uniaxial compression. Sample of material of unspecified shape and oriented in space at will is loaded with constant axial force over specified area of contact till it is destructed. Constant axial force is applied via indenter with the use of cutting blade made in its butt. There are determined depth of dead hole, number of turns of indenter and area of contact of sample of material and indenter by which ultimate strength is found.
