FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: coated sample is subjected to mechanical stresses, the results of which determine the adhesion strength of the coating to the metal base. As a mechanical load, the pressure, applied to the coating of the sample by an indenter diamond cone, is used. The surface of the sample is divided into zones, each of which is successively loaded with a pressure force, followed by control of the coating continuity. The pressure force in each subsequent zone is increased and the test is carried out until a zone with a coating discontinuity is detected. The adhesion index is determined by the applied pressure force on the sample zone preceding the zone with a failure of adhesion of the coating to the base.
EFFECT: reduced complexity of the method implementation and increased validity.
