SUBSTANCE: adjustable-saturation reactor has laminated core of electric steel laminations, side yokes 3, and end yokes 4,5. Yoke width, maximum diameter of external winding 7, and its radial size are interrelated by expression Do-2c≅ a ≅ Dc, where Do is maximum diameter of external winding; c is radial size of external winding; a is yoke width. Outer surface of end yokes 4,5 is flat. Immediately adjacent to this surface are flat shunts 8 in the form of parallelepiped; center line of each shunt 8 is aligned with axis of rod mounting each of shunts 8. Shunt length equals yoke width. Width of shunt 8, rod diameter, and shunt height are interrelated by expression D-hsh/2 ≅ b ≅ D+hsh/2, where D is shunt rod diameter; hsh is shunt height; b is shunt width. Shunt height is found from formula hш=D/2(1-D/a)·k, where k=0.5-2.0 is factor depending on relationship between dimensions of winding core, space factor of winding core, and also on selected flux density in rod and shunts.
