RADIOACTIVE NUCLIDE CONTAMINATED LAND RECLAMATION METHOD Russian patent published in 1996 - IPC

FIELD: agricultural production. SUBSTANCE: method involves building embankments- ditches on agricultural lands and cultivating bur reed in cuts; compacting and spilling bur reed with soil upon expiration of 6-8 years, with soil being taken from embankment ridges; building new embankment adjacent to former one so that central longitudinal axis of new embankment coincides with that of cut of previous embankment, with 8-year cycle of flattening and reduction of embankments-ditches being accompanied by advancement of embankment-ditches upward over slope till complete rotation of bur reed over the whole field is conducted and continuous organic bur reed layer is formed in subsurface layer. At terminating cycle, embankments are not flattened, with cuts being included into crop rotation. In the process of embankment building, chemical reclamative substances are applied layer-by-layer in each 20-25 cm thick layer of moved soil. EFFECT: minimized migration of radioactive nuclides from contaminated plowing land to horizontal layers, localization of nuclides on precipitation lands and isolation from plant rootage and intensified environment control. 3 cl, 4 dwg
