FIELD: poultry processing industry. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has vertical working chamber with narrowing middle portion. Working chamber has charging and discharge devices and pressure and suction air flow swirlers with tangential inlet branch pipes. Apparatus is further provided with conveyor equipped with bird's carcass suspensions, devices which hermetically seal working chamber in the process of advancement of bird's carcass suspensions, vacuum pump and vacuum tank whose inlet is connected with vacuum pump and outlet is connected through normally closed regulating electromagnetic valve to the most narrow portion of working chamber. Control magnet and tripping member electrically connected with electromagnetic valve are positioned in axial alignment one with respect to the other on working chamber casing adjacent to discharge device. Ferromagnetic screens are fixed on conveyor brackets in opposite relation to suspensions, with length of each screen being equal to half suspension space. Bird's feather is removed by periodic action of negative pressure and tangential air flows supplied at various flow rate and intensity. EFFECT: increased efficiency and quality of defeathering, wider operational capabilities and enhanced reliability in operation. 4 cl, 4 dwg
