METHOD OF DEOXIDATION, MODIFICATION AND MICROALLOYING OF STEEL WITH VANADIUM-CONTAINING MATERIALS Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

Abstract RU 2140995 C1

FIELD: ferrous metallurgy; more particularly deoxidation, modification and microalloying of vanadium-containing steels. SUBSTANCE: metal is adjusted to its chemical composition on "furnace-ladle" unit first by adding, carbon- containing material, then vanadium-containing slag, solid slag-forming materials, ferrosilicium and powdery silicocalcium at the end of addition operation. Ratios of vanadium-containing slag to ferrosilicium to powdery silicocalcium are 1: (0.10-0.40):(0.10-0.30), respectively. Consumption of vanadium-containing slag is 6.0-13.5 kg/t. Carbon-containing materials are added in amount of 2.2-7.5 kg/t. The latter include broken electrodes, code fines or pitch-coke fines. Temperature of metal in ladle is maintained above liquidus temperature by 75-95 C by preheating metal in ladle on "furnace-ladle" unit prior to adjusting metal composition. If desired, composition is adjusted in correcting amount of vanadium, namely by adding additional amount of vanadium-containing slag in 20-25 minutes on addition of its main amount. EFFECT: more efficient methods of indicated in the title. 3 cl, 1 ex, 3 tbl
