METHOD FOR MUSCULONIZATING URETHROPLASTY IN TREATMENT OF TRANSSEXUALISM Russian patent published in 1996 - IPC

FIELD: plastic surgery, particular, formation of urethra in operations for changing over anatomic female to male. SUBSTANCE: after reconstruction of female perineum, vaginal part of mucous vaginal is isolated by circular dissection from urethral part to form two independent compartments: vaginal and urethral from which two isolated tubes are formed with mucous-skin part inside. Vaginal tube is brought into the region of the lower pole of wound in form of a minor fistula, and Foley catheter is introduced through urethral part into urinary bladder. Then, plasty of trunk part of urethra is effected by microsurgical beam graft. The latter is used to form tube round catheter with skin part inside whose proximal end is anastomosed with outlet end of perineum urethral tube, then, trunk part of urethra is placed inside the dissected along neophallus, and blood circulation of trunk urethra is restored through rotated lower epigastric vascular fascicle and perineum and large prudental lips are covered with skin with subsequent modelling of scrotum.
