FIELD: metallurgy, namely restoring of rolls from hypereutectoid steels operating in conditions of complex cyclic loads and large temperature drops, for example, rolls of hot rolling mills. SUBSTANCE: in order to enhanced mechanical properties of roll and quality of its surface after fusion on end heat treatment roll is being subjected to surface heating by compressed pulsating arc up to 1150-1250 C upon motion of heat source with rate 100-180 m/h and subsequent air cooling. Novelty is carrying out not only restoring of roll but also its surface heat treatment. EFFECT: enhanced mechanical properties and surface quality of restored roll. 1 cl, 1 tbl
