FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, in particular, thermal processing of forged rolls for hot rolling mills.
SUBSTANCE: method involves providing austenization, cooling in air and tempering; heating forged piece in austenite zone to temperature of 1,030-1,0500C, 820-8400C, 910-9300C, with forged pieces being cooled in air after each heating cycle; providing intermediate holding at temperature of 490-5100C, followed by tempering at temperature of 530-5500C. Proposed thermal processing mode includes triple normalization cycles in austenite zone: first cycle at temperature Ast, second cycle at temperature Ac1 and third cycle at temperature approximating Ast value and tempering value. Method allows Brinell hardness in working layer of forged rolls to be increased to 320-360 HB.
EFFECT: improved operating characteristics of forged rolls owing to reduced point of carbide lattice and provision for producing of fine-dispersed structure.
