METHOD OF CONTINUOUS MEASUREMENT OF CONCENTRATION OF CELLULOSE FIBERS IN SUSPENSION AND DEVICE FOR ITS EMBODIMENT Russian patent published in 1996 - IPC

FIELD: wood-pulp and paper industry; measurement and regulation of concentration of cellulose suspension in the process of paper production. SUBSTANCE: concentration of cellulose fibers in suspension is continuously measured by passing linearly polarized optical radiation through a part of suspension flow and its partial depolarization by cellulose fibers with subsequent spatial separation of optical radiation into two beams in compliance with their polarization of light intensity of these beams into electric signals, generation of signal proportional to these light intensities and indication of results. Intensity of radiation of optical radiation source is regulated and when concentration of cellulose fibers in a part if suspension flow varies, signal proportional to light intensity of one of beam is stabilized, and used as signal proportional to relation of light intensity of beams is signal proportional to light intensity of the other beam, and it is selected as the measured of concentration of cellulose fibers. The device for embodiment of the method has current source, source of optical radiation, and linear polarizer installed on the optical axis of optical radiation source, measuring cell, polarizing and splitting prism with two optical axes of different polarization at the outlet on which two photodetectors are installed. One photodetector is installed on optical axis of prism with polarization identical to initial is connected with source of optical radiation through current source. The latter is used i form of controlled current source. Source of optical radiation is taken form of light-emitting diode. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 cl, 1 dwg
