FIELD: criminalistic investigations in determining the kind of sporting cartridge charge by fired paper case. SUBSTANCE: the method of determination of the kind of sporting cartridge case by fired paper case consists in cutting- off of the paper tube from the metal head, cutting of the tube along its generating line and smoothing-out of it into a plane; the kind of charge is determined according to the number of revealed pores-damages; when microspory is used, it is considered that if 200 pores-damages are revealed - a blank charge in a new case was made; if up to 5000 pores-damages are revealed - a blank charge in a used case was made; if 9000 to 12,000 pores-damages are revealed - a live charge was made. Besides, separation of the first layer from the smoothed out paper tube and projection of it onto photographic paper with a photographic enlargement by 8 to 10 times is possible; in this case it is considered that if 3 to 4 thousand pores-damages are revealed, a live charge was made, and if no pores-damages are revealed, the charge is considered to be a blank one.
