FIELD: transport engineering; design of locomotives. SUBSTANCE: vehicle has traction section 1 mounted on bogies 2 resting on wheelsets 3 and coupled with control cab 5 through hinged coupling 4. Cab 5 is mounted on frame 6 one end of which rests on wheelset 7 and the other, on frame 8 of traction section 1. Electromagnetic shoe brake 9 is installed on frame 6 of control cab 5. In case of breakage of hinged coupling and uncoupling of control cab 5 and traction section 1, one end of cab 5 lowers onto electromagnetic shoes 10 of brake 9 whose rod 12 will turn relative to bracket 11 through value equal to clearance between rail and electromagnetic shoe 10 (2 to 5 degrees), thus providing parallel position of shoes 10 relative to rail and pressing electromagnetic shoe 10 to rail over its entire surface and, consequently, self-braking of control cab.
