FIELD: materials handling; controlled delivery of loose materials from hoppers to feeders or conveyors. SUBSTANCE: hopper feeder has frame 1 connected to hopper 2. Mounted on movable base 3 is inductor 4 of linear induction motor. Secondary element 5 of linear induction motor is connected through coupling 6 with rod 7 embracing the hopper. Streamlined plates 9 are hinge-mounted on frame 1 through trunnions 8. In initial position plates completely overlap the hole of hopper. Plates 9 are fixed on levers 10 through trunnions 8, levers being hinge-connected with common rod 7. Levers 10 are arranged at acute angle relative to plane of plates. Flexible members 11 and 12 are rigidly secured on hopper 2. Free ends of flexible members are fixed in cross rods 7. Control unit 13 controls operation of linear induction motor. EFFECT: enlarged operating range of hopper feeder, increased operation reliability. 4 dwg
