FIELD: production of multilayer metal pipes. SUBSTANCE: method involves rolling gaging billet in rolling mill; applying low-melting point metal powder or metal sheet to surface of hot gaging billet except for its front end with length equal to circular peripheral length of sizing drum, with temperature of steel sheet being below melting temperature of low-melting point metal; winding billet with metal powder or sheet onto sizing drum by means of pressing rollers and pressing shafts. Inner protective layer of pipe is obtained by initially winding leading end of low-melting point metal sheet having length equal to peripheral length of sizing drum followed by winding together with hot steel gaging billet. Outer protective layer of pipe is obtained by winding tail end of low-melting point sheet onto hot steel strip over length equal to peripheral length of outer surface of pipe. Method further involves removing pipe shell at temperature close to melting temperature of low-melting point metal and rolling at lower temperature on pressing shafts. Steel circular segments or couplings are welded to ends of multilayer metal pipe to keep worked pipe assembly and welding process and impart strength to pipe.
