FIELD: technology of production of synthetic diamonds. SUBSTANCE: seed crystal of small sizes is grown by compression of graphite encircling the seed crystal with pressure pulse produced by laser radiation in the region of prenucleation of phase diagram at pressure of 40 GPa and temperature of 300 K. Seed crystal is placed in the center of one or several faces of feed in form of cube. Faces are coated with a layer of fibrous composite with fiber orientation along the cube faces and having in the center of each face conical protrusion receiving laser radiation and made of same composite with orientation of its axis towards cube center. The device for synthesis of diamonds includes synthesis chamber in form of sphere with six branch pipes spaced over its surface and having built-in optical lenses for focussing of laser radiation which are connected with laser by means of light guides. The device has also control panel. Chamber accommodates feed holder. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 cl, 2 dwg
