FIELD: production of rolled products. SUBSTANCE: method involves heating and stitching billet into sleeve; rolling billet in continuous mill; stabilizing coarse pipe temperature; reducing and quenching ready pipe with cooling jets, with part of perimeter of front and rear end surfaces being deformed inward of coarse pipe. In the process of quenching, cooler jets are oriented in direction opposed to that of pipe motion. EFFECT: improved quality of pipes by efficient thermal strengthening of pipes. 2 cl, 5 dwg, 1 tbl
