FIELD: plastic working of metals. SUBSTANCE: method involves flattening basic welded rings of rectangular section in two stages in two separate passes having deforming rolls; using preleader passes with deformation extent of 20-40% at the first stage; heating at temperature equal to that used at the first stage; using finishing pass at the second stage to obtain required parameters of ready profile. EFFECT: optimized conditions for transition of rectangular section of basic billet into intricated stepped thin-walled section of ready article, improved deformability by increased metal plasticity reserve. 1 tbl
