FIELD: nuclear power engineering. SUBSTANCE: three barriers are organized inside trap case on melt path. Melt is uniformly distributed by means of case internal facilities over trap space and is cooled down in melt collectors by air and by water supplied to trap by passive or active methods. Volume distributors are installed within filler space to distribute cooling water there. Trap interior is divided into separate vertical sectors each affording melt trapping, cooling, and holding. Provision is made for devices controlling rate of downward flow of melt inside trap to melt collectors and suppression of its kinetic energy. EFFECT: improved safety of nuclear power plant in case of core-melt accident. 2 cl, 3 dwg
