MACHINE FOR WORKING FRAMEWORK WOODEN PART SLOTS Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: wood-working industry, in particular, cutting longitudinal and transverse slots in round or semicircular logs or semibars. SUBSTANCE: working machine has bed with longitudinal guides 2, carriage 3 with cutting unit, which has working tool, such as wood-working cutter 4 with drive. Carriage 3 may be moved along guides 2 on wheels 6. Cutting unit is mounted for transverse motion along guides 7 of carriage 3 by drive and for vertical motion along guides 9 by drive 10. Cutting unit is further provided with drive 11 for reciprocating working tool 4 in plane extending perpendicular to working machine axis. Working tool 4 is kinematically connected with feeler 12 having profile corresponding to that of longitudinal slot 13 to be produced. In the process of simultaneous working of two logs 14 and 15 to be joined, cutter 4 effectuates rotational motion as well as compound motion, which is composed of reciprocating motion providing required width of longitudinal slot and transverse motion, whose path is set by profile of feeler 12 selected to provide required depth of longitudinal slot, with difference of diameters of logs to be joined being taken into consideration. Working machine may have feeler curvature changing mechanism and may be used to obtain transverse slots in log ends.
