METHOD FOR TREATMENT OF BRONCHIAL ASTHMA Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: medicine, pulmonology, non-medicamental therapy. SUBSTANCE: first pulmonologist determines, whether right or left lung is predominantly affected with pathologic changes. Next zones on affected side of lung are subjected to externally applied pain-inflicting action by successively and alternately pressing onto them by fingers with force which is not less than force causing painful syndrome, but which does not exceed maximum level of patient's tolerance to pain. It is recommended to use, as said biologically active zones, paravertebral and interosseal zones of cervico-thoracic compartment of spine, as well as intercostal and scapulo-humeral zones on right and left sides of body from back. Each procedure is carried out for 1-3 s from 1 to 5 times to cause local strain of muscles in response to pain-inflicting action. It is important that infliction of pain be simultaneously accompanied with breath retention. Procedures are repeated every other day in total number of 8-12 per treatment course. Whenever impossible to determine, which side is predominantly affected, therapeutic action is taken on any side, continuing procedure on other side or passing to other side depending on assessing dynamics of patient's condition.
