FIELD: purification of gases in pyrometallurgy and chemical engineering. SUBSTANCE: to remove chlorine from exhaust gas for its subsequent recycling, chlorine is deposited when successively passing exhaust gas, first at -34 to -100 C and then at -162 to - 196 C, through two coaxial condensers with separating heat- isolation wall, the two being disposed in the same housing. Temperature of countercurrently moving nitrogen-air mixture is controlled by blowing in air: first into dosing ejector-type evaporator whereto simultaneously liquid nitrogen is entered and completely evaporated (solid-phase chlorine deposition), then into nitrogen-air mixture (liquid-phase chlorine deposition). Worked out cooling agent is taken to controlled distribution in two heat exchangers into which air is countercurrently blown in. Cold released from evaporating chlorine is also utilized. EFFECT: enlarged resource of chlorine, and improved environmental condition.
