FIELD: press tools production, that is production of press tools with usage of electric slag process. SUBSTANCE: in apparatus for electric slag casting first a portion of press tool steel smelt is loaded to produce accurate pattern of press tool. Then liquid lag is fed to carry out procedure of press tool cube building up with metal, chemical composition of which coincides with composition of press tool tail end. Produced press tool cube is joined by electric slag welding using melting nozzle. EFFECT: method allows to produce bimetal press tool cube and to avoid labour consuming operation of pattern cutting. 1 dwg
