FIELD: welding processes. SUBSTANCE: in order to avoid looseness at electric slag welding by a plate electrode the last is being used as an additive material and simultaneously as a "reinforcing" member. At time moment of end of the welding, mainly of light-weight metals such as aluminium, a lower portion of the plate electrode, has bean treated by chloride-fluoride melt, without melting it, is being fed to a metallic bath. The plate electrode being fed, is being deenergized from a power source at the last stage of the welding process in order to prevent occurring of short circuiting. A metal of the seam includes non-melt portion of the electrode. A volume of a non-melt part of the electrode is by 15-20% more than a volume of looseness. EFFECT: enhanced mechanical properties of welded seam. 2 cl
