FIELD: process of chlorine dioxide production, that is practically free from by-side produced chlorine. SUBSTANCE: chlorine dioxide is formed out of alkaline metal chlorate, mineral acid and reducer similar to methanol in reaction medium kept at pH less than 9 and high molarity of chlorate. Process is carried out practically without additional chloride-ions introduced in it. It is determined, that chlorate concentration raise under the pH decreases amount of by-side chlorine. Process is carried out in vessel under subatmospheric pressure, due to that water is evaporated and removed together with chlorine dioxide, and salt of alkaline metal and mineral acid is crystalized inside reaction vessel and removed from it. EFFECT: method allows to achieve high productivity and high effectiveness in chlorine dioxide production under practical absence of by-side chlorine formation. 8 cl, 2 tbl
