FIELD: cold rolling of steel strips. SUBSTANCE: method involves charging and fastening strip on winder drum; reducing tightening of strip to value equal to 0.8-0.9 of process tightening value and winding strip till diameter of roll reaches 0.10-0.14 of final diameter; providing further winding to reach diameter of roll 0.87-0.90 of final diameter, with tightening value being periodically varied by increasing tightening in accordance with linear law to 1.1-1.2 of process value with following reduction of tightening value to 0.8-0.9 of process value. Winding thickness is equal to 0.035-0.05 of final diameter of roll at each portion of increased and reduced tightening value. EFFECT: increased efficiency by eliminating welding of ingots in the process of annealing due to reduction of intercoil thermal stresses in central parts of roll.
