FIELD: nondestructive radiation inspection by using natural flow of cosmic muons. SUBSTANCE: pairs of coordinate-sensing detectors placed around object are used to set quasi-parallel beams of muons at different directions. Coordinates of muon entry in object are determined and by attenuation of cosmic muon flows at different directions tomographic pattern of the content of enclosed vehicle is reproduced without relative scanning of object and detector. EFFECT: provision for checking average density and tomography of objects with resolution of about some centimeters without using expensive accelerators, special premises complying with radiation safety norms; may be found useful for producing cargo entry-exit monitoring plants for military bases, military works, secret towns. 5 dwg, 1 tbl
