FIELD: agricultural engineering. SUBSTANCE: forage chopper has a body. Mounted on the body are devices for loading and unloading. Inside the body there is a rotor with chopping tools, petal-shaped vanes, and a circular deck with flails. The deck encompasses the rotor so that there is a clearance between their working tools. The chopper is provided with a chopping knife and shear knives located between the loading device and the rotor. Each chopping tool is a row of tooth-shaped rings encompassed in a screen. The rings are mounted on an axle at an angle of 10-45 deg relative to the axle. The vanes are streamline in shape, and their front ends are pointed. An additional loading device is mounted on the body. The device is also applicable for chopping roots and tubers. EFFECT: higher chopping quality. 3 cl, 4 dwg
