ROLLING APPARATUS Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: plastic working of metals, in particular, connecting of cover and bottom with metal barrel body by rolling. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has roller 4 with restricting bead 18 and two profiled working channels 5 and 6 of different radii. Roller 4 is mounted within roller holder 1. Apparatus is further provided with clamping flange 9 and chuck 7. Axis 2 of roller 4 is positioned at an angle α to axis 16 of rotation of chuck 7. Inclination angle a and smaller radius 17 of first profiled channel 5 and height h of restricting bead 18 of roller 4 at side adjacent to channel 5 are equal to double thickness t of sheet material to be deformed. Pressure flange 9 has form 12 positioned adjacent to chuck 7 and having shape coinciding with that of rear surface 11 of curl 24 formed in the process of rolling. Roller holder 1 has springy shock-absorber formed as split bushing and adapted to compensate thickness difference and nonroundness of rolled seam. Apparatus may be used to connect cover and bottom with barrel by rolling, with barrel volume being up to 250 cu dm. EFFECT: increased efficiency and improved quality of seams. 3 dwg
